Dictation

Speak and it types. Or tell it what to do instead.

Hold ⌘D and your words stream in wherever your cursor is, live, as you speak. Or start with “Hyper” and say an instruction instead — it runs on whatever you’ve selected, and the typing never happens at all.

01

You think faster than you type.

Speed is why people try dictation. Staying on your own machine is why they keep it.

Typing~40 wpm
Speaking~150 wpm

About 3× faster, out loud

Most people type around 40 words a minute, and speak around 150. Dictation closes that gap — Hyprcore closes it without sending your voice anywhere.

02

Two ways to use your voice.

The same shortcut, two different jobs. One writes what you said. The other does what you asked.

Hold, speak, release.

Your words appear wherever the cursor already is — Slack, your editor, a form field. With streaming on, they land word by word as you talk rather than in a block at the end.

  • Any app — nothing to install
  • Words appear as you speak
  • Your product names, spelled right
  • Fillers and false starts removed
03

Seven engines, all on your machine.

Not sure? Start with Whisper turbo — it is the default for a reason. Switching takes one click and no re-setup.

Anywhere you can type.

Dictation goes wherever your cursor is. There's no integration to install, and in the rare app that blocks direct insertion the text goes to your clipboard instead — you never lose a sentence.

05

Built for people who’d rather say it.

Four ways people use dictation every day. The lines underneath are things you would actually say out loud.

Developers

Commit messages, PR descriptions and code comments — without taking your hands off the problem.

Fix the null check in the auth middleware, then add a retry with backoff.

Writers

Draft at the speed you think. Dictated prose comes out more conversational — then tighten it by voice.

Hyper, cut this to 200 words and lose the adverbs.

Email and messaging

The reply you have been putting off is ninety seconds of talking. It lands in Gmail or Slack already cleaned up.

Hyper, turn this into a follow-up email to Sarah.

Anyone typing through pain

For RSI, carpal tunnel or a motor impairment, voice is not a shortcut — it is the input method. Hyprcore runs it entirely on your machine, so it works whether or not you have a connection.

06

Dictation questions.

Does dictation work offline?

Yes. Dictation runs on-device with seven local speech engines (Whisper, NVIDIA Canary, Parakeet, Moonshine, SenseVoice, Breeze, GigaAM). Cloud STT is available on Pro and requires an internet connection.

Which languages can I dictate in?

Most major languages, including non-Latin scripts like Hindi, Chinese, and Japanese. NVIDIA Canary additionally translates while you talk — speak one language, get the transcript in another. The app interface ships in 16 languages.

Can it learn our product names?

Yes. Your custom vocabulary is one shared list across dictation and meetings — teach it your teammates' names and your jargon once, and they come out right everywhere.

Is what I dictate ever uploaded?

Not with a local engine — dictation is processed on-device and never leaves your Mac. If you deliberately pick a cloud engine for speed, that audio goes to the provider you chose, and the app tells you which one is active.

What does dictation cost?

Nothing. On-device dictation is on the free plan and stays there. Pro adds all seven local engines, cloud STT, and the LLM cleanup that runs after a transcription.

Does it work offline, on a plane?

Yes. With a local engine there is no network call at any point. Download the engine once and dictation keeps working in airplane mode, permanently — no account check, no silent degradation.

Will it slow my Mac down?

No. Transcription runs GPU-accelerated on Apple silicon, and only while you are actually holding the key. The rest of the time the engine is idle and out of your way.

Stop typing it out.

Free to download and free to keep. Dictation runs on your own machine, forever, on the free plan.
